Tyra's Hair @ The White House Correspondents Dinner

She will never abandon her lace-fronts but the darker color really suits her. With all the comments online about Tyra and her wigs I'm surprised that she (to the best of my knowledge) hasn't done a show about the topic. I mean, the woman got her breasts screened on TV to prove that they are real. I'm dying to know what's underneath her wig cap.

What do you think of this new look?

ETA: Naturally Sophia provided this link about the show. Jezebel discussion on the show here.

Star Trek was awesome! Uhura was good, but she didn't really have a large role in the movie. It was still all about Spock and Kirk. I'm not complaining because they were both way sexy in the movie.

She's made mentions of her hair, in passing, on Top Model and Tyra Show. She wears cornrows underneath and she told a guest about how if she wore her natural hair while modeling and on TV, she didn't think it would be accepted and she wouldn't be as popular.

Yeah but that's when she was modeling, she has two shows of her own and could wear her hair any way she wants now.

i definitely prefer the darker colour too. she has had some horrendous colours at times (too-red or too brassy) this looks fresh on her for a change, especially since it's a relatively simple do to what she sometimes has on red carpet or other special events.

I agree with you. She could do whatever she wants at this point.

I do think this color is pretty but do not understand the continued resistant to natural hair.

I don't think she can do as she wants. She still has to please her audience and I think that she knows it wouldn't go over that well.

I remember one cycle of ANTM Tyra admitted that she was a slave to her weave (her words, not mine). I don't know, I feel like whatever she wants to do with her hair is her business. It's not like she's the only famous black woman to wear a wig or weave -- why is she getting all the attention for it?

I saw a picture of her on another blog before, and she had apolecia (sp?) really bad. I mean patches several inches wide were missing... but who knows if that was photoshopped or not. Modeling IS very hard on hair. Wearing wigs and weaves for years on end can cause irreversible damage.

I just a commercial for the Tyra show - apparently today she's discussing "good hair" and...she wears cornrows on the show.

I love it! I find the darker color to be more classy and sophisticated.

But enough about her hair. Did you ladies see her date? He's very good looking!

Thanks for the heads up. I just set my Tivo to record the show :)

@Booga - I've seen pics of what weaves have done to Naomi's hair but never Tyra's.

Just for the record, even though I wear my own hair natural, I don't have a problem with ladies who wear extensions or relax their hair. After so many years of seeing Tyra with her lace-front wigs, I'm just really curious about her own hair.

I don't like weave. But I think darker colored weave on her is better than light. Here is an interesting post from someone in the natural hair blogger community who watched it. I have yet to watch it: http://naturalhairbeauty.blogspot.com/

I think that color is so much better and really does wonders. I hope she keeps it and abandons the ash blond altogether.
