i think not.

i spent the whole night wondering what the hell she was wearing. it looked like a tomato committed suicide on her frock.

i still <3 her though! i can't hate too long on the first lady! (woot!)

The dress itself is interesting (not the best fashion person around) but I will say it looks better on Michelle than the model. I like how Michelle's hair and the dress frame her face.

As much as I love Michelle, I wasn't feeling the dress that much. Despite the dress, she still looked lovely.

I like the dress, I just don't like the cardigan Michelle wore with it.

I really didn't like it at first. But it's grown on me over the course of the day. I think she went for a really chic, glam look, and the dress worked in that context.

Love Michelle. The dress, not so much. It was too distracting.

I think it was a really pretty dress, and that the red was subtle :)

I absolutely hated it. Unfortunately that's how she'll be immortalized during this historic moment, forever. I like Mrs. Obama's style in general, but the design was unflattering here. I think she also tends to wear garments without the proper tailoring so that she doesn't look too voluptuous. The effect can be unflattering, making her look like a bigger version of her daughters. I'd also love it if her heels were a tad higher.

i was in shock at first but perhaps it has grown on me? perhaps its LaMichelle so in my eyes she can do no wrong? because somewhere around my 3rd and 257th look i totally dont mind it. its not my fav. but its the Lady Obama and thats enough for me. if she strolled out in saranwrap tinfoil and flipflops id justify it.
also i think the family's coordinated look overall pulled it in up.
How gorgeous is our First Family?

I love the dress on the runway and it may even look fab on Shelly in real life, but with the lights and cameras, the shape/ proportions were thrown off a bit.

I wish she'd wear a bit higher heel also. She is still the fiercest First Lady!! I love her!!!

I thought it fit her great. Everything she wears fits her great. But it was just such an odd style, I was confused when she first came out trying to figure out what was happening with the dress. But from the back, and from the front actually, perfect fit...it was just the way the color red is styled in the front kind of like fireworks or something, and then the black criss-cross. I was confused.
It also looks kind of dominatrix-y on the model...Michelle definitely classes it up. But at the end of the day, she still looked amazing...there's just something naturally radiant about her.

I thought they all looked beautiful and while this dress has become the subject of many debates, I like to think that Michelle is the kind of woman who does not care if everyone approves of her fashion choices. This is one dress on one night and no one looks their best or is able to please everyone all of the time. I think it is more important that she will be immortalized as the first black First Lady of the U.S. rather than what dress she wore on one occasion.

"oh my god, what is that dress?! it's far too similar to a watermelon dropped from 20 stories onto asphalt. but wait, how the hell does michelle look so good in it?

loved the dress... she owned it!

I loved it, too, and I love the (racial) diversity of designers she has worn, from Thakoon Panichgul to Narciso Rodriguez to Maria Pinto to the crew at J.Crew, and now the rumored dress by and African American woman (can't find her name again right now) for the inauguration. That shows real, modern style.

At first it was a no but after a week she turned it into a yes.
