"Modern Luxe" - Italian Vogue - July 2008

The women, of course, are gorgeous and it's nice to see a mix of new models like Arlenis with some of the older supermodels like Karen Alexander and Gail O'Neil but this spread seems uneven to me. The clothes and styling don't particularly tie together and so from the fact that all the women are black, there's no real theme here. To be honest, these photos kind of look like high class mug shots. Also, I was willing to forgive the fur the animal print in Sessilee's beautiful black & white spread but there's a bit too much of it here in my opinion.

...Do you have this?.. Do you know how I can get it without subscribing to the mag?

Check Borders and Barnes and Nobel next week. I haven't seen it on the stands here yet.

There is a copy on ebay up for grabs for 25 bucks.

it has the feeling of like a series of Rockettes profile pages or something. what's wrong here?

Thanks Brigitte for keeping us up-to-date.

Is it just me or is the excitement wearing down with each day that passes? Other than Sessilee Lopez's spread I'm not as interested as I thought I would be after seeing all the other pages.

@ Camille Acey

"it has the feeling of like a series of Rockettes profile pages or something. what's wrong here?"

So true. It's like a casting directors Rolodex.

It's not just you. I think IV made a mistake by holding back the magazine for so long. I was hoping for a "normal" issue with the models used just like they would be in a average issue of the magazine.

I'm still looking forward to seeing it but with the exception of Sessilee's spread, what I've seen so far is just ho-hum.

French and Italian Vogue are always over the top. Italian Vogue's covers are the best of all the editions of Vogue. If I see one more Nicole Kidman AV cover I will jump.

@brigitte - I went harassing the bookstore people again to no avail but I did happen to see a very dapper looking Jay-Z on the cover of this month's Vogue L'Uomo. I am exceedingly annoyed that they sent out italian men's vogue before women's vogue. This is becoming tiresome!

@chic noir - I know what you mean but I meant "normal" by IV standards.

@camille - Are the folks at IV hoping that buyer confusion will pump up the sales of the June issue? I can't believe how long that one has remained on the stands. I get pissy everytime I see it.

Perhaps a team of photographers rather than just Steven Meisel should have contributed to this issue. Is Chrystele Saint Louis Augustin in this?
