Jezebel Tallies it Up

I found this interesting. Jezebel has done an informal tally of the merchandise featured in several women's fashion magazines in September. Here are the results for the second installment, which pulls out the 10-key on September's Elle and Vogue phonebooks.

Apparel: $825,764 (Most expensive: $61,000 Dolce & Gabbana beaded dress. Least expensive: $48 Splendid cotton shirt)
Accessories: $350,569 (Most expensive: $44,600 De Grisogono watch. Least expensive: $38 Wolford velvet leggings)

This is why I gave up magazine subscriptions and reading them other than flipping through them in the grocery line..

I just can't afford it!!! And I don't want to lust after something I never wanted before.

I know what you mean. It's rare that I actually see something in those magazines that I have to have. Most of the time I'll try to imitate some of the outfits using lower priced pieces...or pray that something I like trickles down to Nordstrom Rack or some other discounter.

That's what I do, I get ideas and copy them or have some type of form of the original. To spend $200 on a t-shirt is just stupid to me.....I can wear a $20 dress I found at the 2nd hand store and get compliments all day. I see Lindsey Lohan in some $10,000 outfit and it looks like it came from Walmart.

As always, it's not what you wear, but how you wear it.
